“TThis is a new indication of Putin’s desperate desire to continue his war of aggression against Ukraine, despite it representing an important burden on the Russian economy and implying heavy losses for Russian troops”, said spokesman Vedant Patel to the ‘media’.
“Russia launched this unprovoked war against Ukraine. Putin can end it at any time by withdrawing his forces from Ukraine,” the spokesman continued.
As part of a government reshuffle, Russian President Vladimir Putin last Sunday replaced Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who had been in office for 12 years, with Andrey Belousov, an economist who held roles in the Russian Government with a strong economic profile.
Shoigu will occupy the position of secretary of the Security Council, previously held by Nikolai Patrushev, who was dismissed from his duties according to a decree published by the Kremlin.
