O Former US president, Donald Trump, once again refused to commit to accepting the results of the 2024 presidential election and implied that he was prepared to “fight” if the result was not “honest”.

In the interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Wednesday, the former US president repeated false claims that he won the state of Wisconsin during the 2020 election and cast doubt on whether votes this year will be counted “honestly”.

“If everything is honest – which we predict it will be because many changes have been made in recent years – I will gladly accept the results. If not, I have to fight for the rights of the country,” Trump highlighted, adding that he would be “doing I would do the country a disservice if I said otherwise.”

“I want the people who vote to vote honestly. I want the ballots [eleitorais] are told honestly”, he further highlighted.

Regarding Wisconsin’s 2020 election results, Trump challenged journalists to “look again at all the things that were discovered” which, according to the former US president, show that he won the election. “They also show that I won the election in other places,” he claimed.

Remember that in 2020, Wisconsin was one of several states where Trump and his allies tried to undermine the electoral results through unfounded accusations of widespread fraud.

The former president’s refusal to accept the will of voters culminated in the violent Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, where Trump supporters attempted to undermine the Electoral College certification of President Joe Biden’s victory.

Trump is currently charged in two cases related to his actions after the 2020 election – one filed by the Department of Justice and the other by state prosecutors in Georgia.

In turn, he is the favorite for the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic President Joe Biden in the November 5 presidential elections.
