A Europol and Eurojust — agencies that coordinated the operation from their headquarters in The Hague — announced today that five suspects were detained and seven others were interrogated in different countries as part of the international operation against an extremist organization that uses an online platform to spread propaganda, recruit members and exchange manuals.
The police operation mobilized agents from Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Lithuania, Romania and Italy and authorities also seized data carriers and weapons
“Some of the organization’s members have written their own manifesto and have access to weapons,” according to a joint statement from the agencies.
The case was opened last July at the request of the Belgian authorities.
