The young woman just wanted a nice smile
In January 2021, Alana decided to undergo dental treatment in Türkiye, encouraged by a friend of her mother, in hopes of improving your smile. However, what was supposed to be an improvement in his appearance ended up turning into a nightmare.
The woman had longed for a cosmetic change to her teeth and, when looking for affordable options, was recommended to a clinic in Türkiye. After researching and communicating with the medical center staff, the young woman accepted the offer: a complete treatment that included the placement of dental crowns for an initial price of 6,720 euros (approximately 31,638,302 Colombian pesos), with accommodation and transportation costs included. Despite the expensive treatment, the young woman did not imagine that the real problem was yet to be faced.
The procedure began on July 26, with the wear of your natural teeth to prepare for the placement of the crowns.
“I was in a lot of pain from the first day, but the staff assured me it was normal,” the woman told Need to Know. However, as the days progressed, the pain intensified, until it was necessary to devitalize his teeth, a process in which the affected dental pulp is removed.
The surgeries left her sore
Even though the permanent crowns were quickly placed, Alana began to experience severe, constant pain. Upon returning home, the suffering did not disappear; In fact, it only got worse. The young woman reported that, a few days later, she felt “grooves” in her gums and an unpleasant taste in her mouth, which she interpreted as signs that something was terribly wrong. After several consultations with the clinic in Türkiye and the lack of solutions, he decided to seek a second opinion in his country.
The diagnosis was devastating: the treatment had been an “absolute disaster.” Alana was faced with a critical situation and without short-term options. According to local dentists, there were only three alternatives left, all of them expensive, with budgets more expensive than what he had already spent on the aesthetic process.
You will be able to have new implants in your gums until 2025
Since April 2024, Alana faces a life without teeth, with only 8 implants of the 12 she will need to complete her treatment, the process of which could extend until July 2025. Although there is slight relief after getting rid of the failed implants, the pain still persists and their daily life has changed drastically.
By sharing her story, Alana seeks to warn others about the risks of dental treatment abroad.
“Before undergoing a procedure in another country, think carefully. If something goes wrong, you will have to face the consequences in your own country and, In many cases, costs triple,” he advised.
Beyond the physical pain, the emotional and social impact has also been devastating for Alana. “I feel limited in all aspects; I miss being able to eat and laugh without reservation. “This experience has taken its toll on me in more ways than one, but I am determined to move forward,” she concluded.
