“NOn Monday, I will welcome Yulia Navalnaya to the EU Foreign Affairs Council”, said the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in a message on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
According to the head of community diplomacy, on the occasion, “EU Ministers will send a strong message of support to freedom fighters in Russia and honor the memory of Alexei Navalny”.
The meeting comes days after, last Friday, the death in prison of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was announced.
Alexei Anatolievitch Navalny, 47 years old, was the main opponent of the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On Monday, the heads of European Union diplomacy will discuss the war in Ukraine caused by the Russian invasion, with an informal conversation via videoconference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, informed the European press that the person responsible will receive Yulia Navalnaya on Monday morning.
