‘Drones’ that attacked Moscow today came from Ukraine, says Russia

“Os ‘drones’ [aparelhos aéreos não tripulados] who on the night of August 1 tried to attack Moscow and the Moscow region flew from Ukrainian territory,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to the news agency.

This information was also confirmed by a source from the emergency services, which means that the ‘drones’ will have traveled at least 500 kilometers of Russian airspace, the minimum distance between the Russian capital and the border with Ukraine.

The deputy and leader of the ultranationalist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), Leonid Slutski, had declared that the ‘drones’ had been launched from Russian territory.

“It is evident that the ‘drones’ are launched by a network of agents operating on our territory,” said the deputy, chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament.

Leonid Slutski was confident that the Russian Defense Ministry’s response to Ukraine will not be delayed.

“The time has come to burn down the decision-making centers to burn this Nazi rubbish once and for all”, underlined the Russian deputy.

In today’s attack, which did not cause casualties, a ‘drone’ collided with the glass facade of the 21st floor of one of the skyscrapers located in the modern financial center of Moscow, informed the mayor of the capital, Serguei Sobianin.

The facts reported today took place in the same area where two of the towers in the financial center of the Russian capital were hit last Saturday in a similar attack.

For its part, the Ministry of Defense of Russia communicated that the antiaircraft defense forces shot down two ‘drones’ in the region of Moscow, including in the district of Naro-Fominsk where the Division of motorized infantry nº 2, one of the units of elite of the Russian army.

“Another ‘drone’ was inhibited with electronic warfare means, lost its way and crashed in the area of ​​​​the office building complex” in the financial center of Moscow, added the same source.

The Russian military offensive in Ukrainian territory, launched on February 24 last year, plunged Europe into what is considered the most serious security crisis since the Second World War (1939-1945).

The Russian invasion – justified by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security – was condemned by the international community in general, which has responded by sending arms to Ukraine and imposing Russia from political and economic sanctions.
