Often considered the ultimate summer cocktail, the Aperol Spritz can also be prepared and served on other occasions, Christmas or New Year is no exception. How to succeed every time and bluff your guests? Romain Chassang, mixology expert, revealed his tips to our colleagues at Version Femina. Here’s what you had to remember.

To make this summer cocktail more festive, the base must already be successful, that is to say, the drink must have flavor and be well dosed. To do this, Romain Chassang recommends not deviating from the traditional recipe. First 9 cl of prosecco, a sparkling white wine, then 6 cl of bitter (Aperol or Campari), a liqueur obtained from the distillation or maceration of bitter plants, and finally, 3 cl of sparkling water. All you need is a few ice cubes and that’s it! It is with this recipe that you will obtain the best cocktail, the mixology expert assures.

He also recommends not adding any artificial ingredients such as syrup or champagne. The only possible change to make the Aperol Spritz more Christmassy: replace the sparkling water with Christmas tea previously carbonated using a Soda Stream type sparkling water machine.

If it usually sits on the edge of the glass and recalls the swimming pool and summer, the traditional orange slice can, in this season, give way to a sprig of rosemary, a cinnamon stick or even star anise. More wintery ingredients that will make this cocktail more festive than ever. And for a “Wow” effect, don’t hesitate to add some edible glitter. What’s better for the New Year?
