O President of the United States, Joe Biden, warned, this Thursday, of the danger that democracy in the country is in, particularly with the former president, Donald Trump.

“There is something dangerous happening right now in the United States”he said during a speech in the state of Arizona. “There is an extremist movement that does not share the ideas of our democracy. The MAGA movement”he concluded, referring to the ‘slogan’ used by Trump in the presidential elections that ended up giving him victory in 2017.

The American head of state also spoke about the party to which Trump belongs. “There is no doubt that today’s Republican Party is driven and intimidated by MAGA extremists”he stated, quoted by international publications, adding that the “extremist agenda” of this movement would alter the country’s institutions, “as they are known”.

It should be noted that with just over a year to go before the elections in the United States, Donald Trump has a slight advantage over Joe Biden, with the current president receiving 49% of voting intentions and the Republican 50%, according to a CBS poll. /YouGov.

These results come even after Trump became the first former president to be criminally charged – as well as to have his photo taken in prison.

Trump is still ‘in the crosshairs’ of Justice due to several processes, which involve not only bribes during the presidential campaign, but also the retention of classified documents.

Former President of the United States Donald Trump is being indicted again for conspiracy to illegally reverse his defeat in the 2020 elections in the US state of Georgia.

In Arizona, Biden pointed the finger directly at his predecessor. “Trump says the Constitution gave him the right to do whatever he wants as president […]. I’ve never heard the president say that in a joking tone.”he noted.

Biden also recalled Trump’s recent statements, which said that General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, could be executed. Recalling the Republicans’ lack of stance on these statements, Biden said that this silence was “deafening”.

“We must remember: democracies do not have to die at the end of a shotgun. They can die when people remain silent, when they fail to intervene”, he concluded.
