“IThis is nothing more than a low level of pilot readiness,” Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said during military maneuvers, according to Russian news agency TASS.

According to the defense minister, Belarus maintains flight control communications with Poland, despite tensions between the two countries.

“We saw the plane, we knew what its objective was – to patrol the border – and we did a complete monitoring of its flight”, he added.

Khrenin said Belarus did not see this as a provocation, unlike its “aggressive neighbors”.

Last Friday, the State Border Guard Service of Belarus denounced the violation of airspace by a Polish military helicopter in the Berestovitsk district, in the Grodno region.

A month earlier, Poland, for its part, accused Belarus of violating its airspace by two Belarusian military helicopters, on which occasion it expressed “a strong protest” and urged Belarus to explain “in detail and immediately the incident”.

These incidents have occurred in a context of border tensions between the two countries, aggravated in recent weeks after the installation of a contingent of Russian mercenaries from the Wagner group in Belarusian territory, which Warsaw sees as a threat.
