Colombian traveled to the US in search of a better future and died after being stabbed in a robbery

Édgar Alexander Acevedo, a Colombian migrant who arrived in New York six months ago with a lot of dreams to fulfill, died in that city in the United States after being attacked with a sharp weapon in the middle of a robbery.

On February 17, 2024, in the Bronx, Edgar Alexander and a friend were walking back to a shelter and were interceptedAccording to the authorities, by two subjects who, at knifepoint, stripped them of their belongings.

After the attack by the criminals, Édgar Alexander went to the Police to report what happened and ask for help in the company of his friend, but suffered a cardiac arrest.

The victim was taken to a hospital. As the days passed, her health deteriorated to the point that doctors had to amputate her left leg and she finally died.. Jorge Acevedo, his brother, obtained a humanitarian visa and traveled from Colombia to say goodbye to him.

Jorge arrived in the United States on Friday, May 3, 2024 and managed to see Edgar Alexander alive.

“The desire to be able to see him, to hug him, to tell him that I loved him very much, that we were with him. (I was able to) pray with him, tears came to his eyes, he opened his eyes, but he could no longer communicate”Jorge said.

Jorge Acevedo, in the midst of pain, is taking all the necessary steps to be able to repatriate the body of his brother, who was days away from turning 48 years old.
