Ingredients

  • 2 tablets of fresh organic yeast
  • ½ cup of warm milk
  • 2/3 cup (tea) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • Zest of the peel of 1 orange
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • 70 grams of melted butter
  • 4 and ½ cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • ½ tablespoon of fennel seeds
  • Icing sugar (optional)

Preparation Mode

  1. Grease and flour a large baking dish and set aside.
  2. In a blender, beat the milk, yeast, sugar, salt, eggs, zest, juice and butter.
  3. When the mixture is homogeneous, transfer it to a bowl.
  4. Add the fennel and flour little by little, stirring with the help of a wooden spoon until the dough comes away from the bowl.
  5. On a floured surface, knead the dough for approximately 8 minutes.
  6. Cover and let rest for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat the oven to medium temperature.
  8. Make rolls with the dough, cut, shape into donuts and join the ends.
  9. Twist the donuts into a figure eight and place them on the baking tray.
  10. Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until golden.
  11. Remove and sprinkle with icing sugar.

Mom Tips

Do not exceed the amount of wheat flour. As soon as the dough comes off your hands; it’s on point.

70 grams of butter will be approximately half a cup (tea) of butter melted.

You can find fennel on the condiment shelf in good supermarkets.

Approximate yield of 25 medium-sized twists.
