  • 15 slices of emmental cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 20 cl of liquid cream
  • 30g grated Emmental cheese
  • Sel ou sel fin
  • Pepper

For utensils, you will need:

  • Cutting board
  • Rolling pin

trim sideour culinary expert Nadia Paprikas recommends “Vary according to your desires with slices of cheese of your choice and also with, for example, slices of chicken, salmon, etc…”

  1. Using a rolling pin, roll out the slices of bread to lengthen them a little and make them thinner.
  2. Place a slice of bread on the work surface and brush the bottom with a beaten egg. Stick another slice of bread on the end and repeat the same operation until you run out of slices.
  3. Place the slices of cheese on the sandwich bread then arrange the half-slices of ham that you have previously cut on top.
  4. Cut the topped slices in half all the way to get a long strip of topped bread.
  5. Roll the bread strip to shape a snail and continue with the remaining strips until you have a giant snail-shaped filled bread. Place this roll in a round mold 20 cm in diameter.
  6. In a bowl, whisk 3 eggs with the cream, salt and pepper.
  7. Pour the mixture over the rolled bread, sprinkle the whole with grated Emmental cheese and bake for 40 minutes in a preheated oven at 180°C.
  8. Accompany your croque with raw vegetables as an aperitif or with a salad as an appetizer!
