AThe Israel Defense Forces identified the Hamas member as Ayman Shweida and assured that he participated in the attack by Palestinian militias on October 7 against Israeli territory, which caused more than 1,200 deaths and 240 hostages.

During the attack, one of his companions was also killed, identified as Ubadah abu Hain, who played an “important role” in the fighting against the Israeli army in Shejaiya, according to The Times of Israel.

The attack came after the Gaza Strip Civil Defense announced that emergency teams had managed to recover at least 60 bodies buried under rubble in Shejaiya, Gaza City.

A spokesman for Gaza Civil Defense said that more than 85 percent of residential buildings in the Shejaiya neighborhood were uninhabitable, affecting a total of 120,000 residents, according to Al Jazeera television.

The Israeli army withdrew from the Tal al Hawa neighborhood in Gaza City today after a week of operations.
