Dozens of civilians died this Sunday in Gaza Cityin the north of the Strip, when the Israeli army opened fire on them while they were waiting for humanitarian aid in the midst of a famine crisis, reported the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave.

Israeli occupation forces committed a horrific massacre in which dozens of people were killed and others injured at the Kuwait roundabout“, indicated in a statement the Ministry controlled by the political wing of the Islamist group Hamas.

The victims were there waiting for flour trucks.a spokesperson for the Ministry assured EFE, explaining that there is no precise number of deaths since “the bodies are scattered in the street without anyone being able to access them, no one dares to count them” due to the danger of the area. .

The Israeli Army “is carrying out a systematic genocide against hundreds of thousands of starving people in northern Gaza”the Ministry stressed.

When consulted by EFE, the Army has not given its version of the events.

On the other hand, in Deir al Balah, in the center of the Strip, at least Five people were killed and four others were injured when an Israeli Army drone opened fire on them while they were being transported in a truck, reported the Red Crescent emergency service, which treated those victims.

A spokesperson for that entity told EFE that the number of deaths and injuries in the incident is higher, since ambulances from other emergency services provided medical attention to other people.

The official Palestinian news agency, Wafa, claims that the “small” truck was transporting humanitarian aid and that the incident left at least eight dead, but an Army spokesperson told EFE that the truck was not transporting aid.

According to the military spokesman, it was an airstrike by troops based on intelligence information to eliminate Mahmud Muhamad Abd Jad, responsible for recruiting agents for Hamas and raising funds for the Islamist group.

On Saturday, Israel attacked a group of civilians waiting for humanitarian aid to arrive near the Al Nabulsi roundabout in southern Gaza City. leaving one dead and 26 injured, Wafa reported.

These attacks come after at least 118 Gazans lost their lives and another 760 were injured last Thursday in Gaza City while crowding around trucks delivering humanitarian aid amidst gunfire from the Israeli Army.

Medical sources who treated the victims assured Palestinian media that most had gunshot and shrapnel woundswhile Hamas accused Israel of committing an attack “premeditated” against the civilian population that was waiting for help.

However, the Israeli Army assured this Sunday that the troops “did not attack the humanitarian aid convoy”, although some soldiers did shoot at “looters” who came too close and “constituted an immediate threat.”

“The majority of Palestinians were killed or injured as a result of the stampede“reiterated Daniel Hagari, military spokesman, in a recorded speech in which he announced that an exhaustive investigation into the events remains open.

The war between Israel and Hamas, which began on October 7, 2023 after an attack by the Islamist group that left some 1,200 dead and 250 kidnapped, has left more than 30,400 people dead in the Gaza Strip, most of them women. and kids.

Furthermore, survivors of the Palestinian enclave – including more than 70,000 injured– face an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, with the collapse of hospitals, the outbreak of epidemics, the shortage of medicines and electricity, as well as the lacerating lack of drinking water and food, which has reached famine levels and has caused the death of numerous civilians.
