Israeli MNE cancels meeting with Guterres. “What world do you live in?”

O Prime Minister of Israel, Eli Cohen, canceled, this Tuesday, the meeting that was scheduled with the secretary-general of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres.

“I will not meet with the UN Secretary General. After the attack [do Hamas] on October 7th, there is no room for a balanced approach. Hamas must be eliminated from the face of the Earth”wrote the minister on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The information comes after the head of the Israeli Foreign Affairs portfolio has already shown his discontent with Guterres’ position – who at the opening of the UN Security Council unequivocally condemned the “acts of terror” and “unprecedented” perpetrated by Hamas in Israel, stressing that “nothing can justify the deliberate murder, attack and kidnapping of civilians” – but also admitted that it is “important to recognize” that the attacks by the Islamist group Hamas “did not happen out of nowhere”, stressing that the people Palestinian “was subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation”.

The Portuguese also noted that he was “deeply concerned about the clear violations” of international humanitarian law in Gaza and reiterated his calls for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.

The Israeli minister responded by giving explicit details about the attacks that took place, and asked: “Mr. Secretary General, what world do you live in?”. After the question, he replied: “Without a doubt, it’s not in ours.”

The official also defended that Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, with the so-called ‘Withdrawal Plan Implementation Law’. “We gave Gaza to the Palestinians up to the last millimeter. There are no disputes regarding the territory”, he reinforced.

The Israeli ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, also denounced on platform X the “shocking speech” by António Guterres, whom he accused of seeing the situation in a “distorted and immoral way”.

“Your statement that ‘the Hamas attacks did not happen out of nowhere’ expressed an understanding of terrorism and murder. It is truly incomprehensible. It is truly sad that the leader of an organization that emerged after the Holocaust would hold such horrific views. A tragedy !”Erdan added.

The person responsible even, through X, asked Guterres to resign from his position as UN secretary-general.

The UN Secretary General, who shows understanding for the campaign of mass murder of children, women and the elderly, must resign from his position. no less than that.
