O The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that dozens of people were injured in an attack on a school in the Abasan area, east of Khan Yunis, and that its teams were transporting the injured to two hospitals in the city.

The Hamas government in Gaza has said that most of the victims are women and children among those displaced by the ground invasion of Rafah, where Israeli troops entered in early May.

Israeli forces today concentrated military operations in the center of the Palestinian enclave, devastated after nine months of a war that has already left more than 38,000 dead and thousands missing.

The place worst hit by the attacks was the Nuseirat refugee camp, located eight kilometers south of Gaza City, where the Israeli army killed 17 members of the same family, including 14 minors and women.

Just five kilometers away, in Deir al Balah — a city where Israel has sent displaced people from northern Gaza City — a woman and her son lost their lives in overnight Israeli shelling.

Meanwhile, mediators from Israel and the Islamist group Hamas are negotiating a ceasefire that will allow the release of the 116 Israeli hostages who remain captive in Gaza and the entry of humanitarian aid into the enclave.

However, on Monday, Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh said that ongoing Israeli military attacks on Gaza City and the central enclave could delay and even set back the negotiations.
