“O Russian president ridicules what Russia is actually doing in Ukraine and gives a completely absurd explanation about the causes of this war. This makes everything even clearer for us: we remain firmly on Ukraine’s side,” Schulz wrote on his X social network account (formerly Twitter).

Putin said in the interview broadcast on Thursday that it was Ukraine that started the war in 2014, with the fall from power of then-president Viktor Yanukovych, and that Russia’s objective is to end this war, which, he argued, has the contours of a civil war, since Russians and Ukrainians are one people.

The president added that Russia has not yet achieved its goals in Ukraine, because one of them is its “denazification”.

Putin completely ruled out the possibility of Russian defeat in the neighboring state he invaded, considering it “impossible, by definition.”

In the same interview with the controversial conservative and former Fox News presenter, close to former president Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin ruled out the possibility of invading Poland or Latvia.
