Avocado oil and olive oil are known for their health benefits. These oils have also been shown to reduce inflammation and protect against heart disease. However, these oils are not quite the same. Avocado oil is versatile and can be used in cooking as well as for skin care. Olive oil is very often used in our food, in cooking and in the preparation of salad dressings.

Both avocado oil and olive oil are excellent for your health. But if you had to make a choice, which would be the most beneficial for your health? Depending on certain points, oils are more or less good. For example :

  • Antioxidant content: victory for olive oil. Antioxidants are substances that help reduce oxidative stress by fighting free radicals in the body. Both oils contain it, particularly vitamin E. However, this vitamin E content is greater for olive oil;

  • Skin health: the two oils tied. Both oils are beneficial for the skin, notably thanks to their vitamin E and lutein content. Avocado oil soothes dry, chapped or damaged skin. Olive oil is used in cosmetic and skin care products;

  • Smoke point: Avocado oil wins. The smoke point refers to the temperature at which the oil begins to break down and release harmful free radicals. Avocado oil has a higher smoke point (250°C) compared to 191°C for olive oil.

  • Absorption of nutrients: the two oils tied. The high levels of monounsaturated fats in both oils help the body absorb important nutrients.

Both oils are excellent for health and can be used regularly.

To benefit from the benefits of your oils, it is important to store them properly. Indeed, they tend to be quite capricious. Thus, light, heat and oxygen accelerate the degradation of the quality of your oils. It is therefore important to opt for a product packaged in a dark glass bottle. The opaque tint acts like sunglasses for your oil and the glass is more airtight than plastic. This helps slow down the rate of oil oxidation. Finally, remember to keep them away from all sources of heat.
