OThe ‘gendarmes’ (French police) found the drugs in the home of Habsaoui, a pharmaceutical technician whose brother has a record of drug trafficking, according to French television BFMTV, citing police sources, who added that the investigation is continuing.
Habsaoui was elected mayor of Avallon in 2021 as a candidate for the French Socialist Party, and is also a regional deputy in the Yonne Regional Council.
Since mid-March, the French Government has launched Operation Clean Space XXL to tackle the problem of drug trafficking with the personal commitment of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
