O Russian President Vladimir Putin paid tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack carried out on Friday at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk, on the outskirts of Moscow.

Images released by the Kremlin this Sunday show the head of state lighting candles, before making the sign of the cross, just as You can see it in the gallery above.

“The president paid tribute to those killed in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall,” wrote the presidency in the publication on the social network Telegram.

No further information or the location of the vigil was provided.

The attack, which caused 137 deaths and more than 150 injuries, led the head of state to declare a day of national mourning in the country, which takes place this Sunday.

In addition to the tributes, emergency services remain on site, not only to remove rubble, but also to search for any survivors or dead.

It should be noted that the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced, on Saturday, that it had arrested 11 individuals allegedly linked to the attack, including the four terrorists who directly carried out the attack.

The Russian president yesterday condemned what he called a “barbaric and bloody” terrorist act and called for revenge. Although he did not speculate on the masterminds of the attack, he suggested that the four detainees were trying to cross the border into Ukraine, which the Russian leader said tried to create a “window” to help them escape.

Ukrainian authorities have denied any involvement in the attack from the outset, and a US intelligence source told the Associated Press that US agencies confirmed that the group was responsible for the attack.

One of the detainees allegedly involved in the attack confessed that they were promised 500,000 rubles (around 5,000 euros) to participate in the attack.

In a recording of the interrogation published by Russian television Channel One, the detainee claims to have received half of the sum through a transfer to a bank card.

The arrests were the result of a joint operation between the FSB and fighters from the Chechen Akhmat regiment, as announced shortly afterwards by the leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadirov.

The vehicle that the perpetrators of the attack were driving was a white Renault Logan, presumably the same one in which they arrived at Crocus City Hall on Friday night.

According to Russian authorities, they managed to escape the scene and continue along the highway to around 100 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

The authorities continue to investigate, but during the interrogation it was discovered that the entire operation began just a month ago with the monetary offer.
