O Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Ukraine’s counter-offensive operations had shown “no results, at least so far” and that the “colossal resources” provided by Western allies had not helped it.
“Today, it is evident that the Western allies of the Kyiv regime are clearly disappointed with the results of the so-called counter-offensive, which the current Ukrainian authorities have been loudly proclaiming in recent months.“, said the Russian head of state, at a meeting of the country’s Security Council, quoted by The Moscow Times.
Putin further claimed that the dwindling number of tanks, artillery, armored vehicles and Western missiles supplied to Ukraine, as well as “thousands of mercenaries and foreign advisers”, had not helped Kyiv achieve military objectives.
“The whole world sees that the vaunted western equipment, supposedly invulnerable, is burning“, he added.
Without elucidating any kind of evidence, the Russian president stressed that “tens of thousands” of Ukrainian soldiers were killed and wounded in the counter-offensive.
Remember that the Ukrainian counterattack began in June, after months of preparation. It faces a frontline of 900 kilometers of occupied territory stretching from the Kharkiv-Luhansk border in northeastern Ukraine to Kherson in the southwest.
Kyiv’s Ministry of Defense previously noted that its forces liberated about 210 square kilometers during the counter-offensive.
