The savory pie is very popular; Learn how to prepare this nutritious and very tasty spinach pie!

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 large bunches of spinach
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of wheat flour
  • 1 can of cream
  • Nutmeg to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 eggs well beaten

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • 1 dessert spoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of chemical baking powder
  • 250 grams of margarine
  • 1 egg for brushing

Dough Preparation Method

  1. Place all dough ingredients in a bowl.
  2. With your hands, mix everything without kneading the dough.
  3. When you obtain a homogeneous mass; put it in a plastic bag.
  4. Remove the air and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  5. Powder flour into a thick plastic bag.
  6. Place the dough inside and with the help of a rolling pin; open the dough.
  7. Line a 24 cm diameter mold or ovenproof dish with the dough.
  8. Fill with spinach cream and cover with reserved sauce.
  9. Bake at 180ºC until golden.

Filling preparation method

  1. Clean the spinach, wipe with paper towel and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter and add the wheat flour in it.
  3. Combine the cream with 2 tablespoons of cold milk.
  4. Over very low heat, stir well and let it thicken.
  5. Season with nutmeg, pepper and salt.
  6. Remove from heat and add beaten eggs.
  7. Reserve 4 tablespoons of this sauce.
  8. Add the spinach to the rest of the sauce and return to a very low heat, stirring well.
  9. If necessary, add more salt and pepper.
