A Thai police have evidence to charge Daniel Sancho – who confessed to killing and dismembering a Colombian surgeon on the tourist island of Koh Pha Ngan – with premeditated murder, the head of the investigation told AFP.

“We have enough evidence and now it’s up to the court to start the trial”said Somsak Nurod, head of investigation at the Koh Pha Ngan Police Station.

Daniel Sancho, 29, appeared before a judge on Monday and is now being held in a Thai prison awaiting trial.

The son of actor Rodolfo Sancho entered Thailand as a tourist on July 31. Police found body parts in a garbage dump on this island believed to belong to Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, a 44-year-old plastic surgeon from Colombia.

Sancho has already confessed to the crime and says he is aware of what awaits him. In recent statements, the lawyer said that “15 years in a Thai prison is very difficult”, hoping to get the client to Spain.

On Sunday, Daniel Sancho accompanied investigators to various locations where he allegedly disposed of the remains of his victim’s body.

According to the Bangkok Post, the Spaniard revealed his version of events, saying that he and the victim saw each other around 2 pm on August 3 and that they rode a motorcycle together – as, moreover, the images of security cameras show. .

Upon arriving at the hotel room, and as he had narrated in the previous days, after an argument in which the surgeon asked him for sex, Sancho punched his friend in the face, knocking him unconscious.

Still according to the Bangkok Post, the man, in a panic, then took him to the bathroom, trying to make him regain consciousness – without success.

After waiting an hour and no response from Edwin Arrieta, the chef decided to start dismembering the doctor, and according to him, it took “three hours”. Around 9 pm that same day, he began to put the surgeon’s remains in black plastic bags and rented a kayak that helped him toss most of them into the sea.

The rest of the body was taken to the landfill on the island, where hours later a worker would discover it.

After becoming the main suspect in the crime, the Thai authorities went to the hotel where he was staying, where, according to the same media, they found: “80 thousand American dollars and a gold necklace that belonged to the Colombian”.
