Traditional Italian Strawl

Ingredients

  • 2 cans of condensed milk
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla essence
  • 1 package coarsely crushed cornstarch biscuits
  • margarine spread
  • icing sugar for sprinkling

Preparation mode

  1. In a pan, mix condensed milk, chocolate and butter.
  2. Lead to the low fire, always stirring, until you release from the bottom of the pan.
  3. Remove from heat, add essence and biscuits and mix well.
  4. Pour into a greased medium rectangular refractory, let it cool and take to the fridge for 1 hour.
  5. Remove, cut into pieces and roll in icing sugar.
  6. Serve or wrap in cellophane and tie with ribbon.

Mother’s Tips

Italian straw can be packed in closed pots until serving time.

Approximate yield of 20 units.

Inverted Italian Straw

Ingredients

  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted margarine
  • 8 tablespoons powdered milk
  • 1 package of chopped chocolate cornstarch cookies
  • margarine spread

Preparation mode

  1. Prepare a 22 cm x 30 cm mold by lining it with greased aluminum foil.
  2. In a pan, heat condensed milk, margarine and powdered milk to low heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
  3. Mix with the chopped biscuit and spread with a spatula in the already prepared form.
  4. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
  5. Cut in squares and serve.
