“NWe are not looking for an escalation, we are not looking for a full-blown war in the region”, said John Kirby in an interview with the North American television channel NBC.

Kirby said last night demonstrated Israel’s ability to defend itself and, asked whether Israel would retaliate, said it was up to Israel to decide.

Iran launched an attack on Israel on Saturday night in response to the Israeli bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

The Israeli Army assured that it was able to repel most of the attacks launched by Iran and noted that none of the ‘drones’ launched by this country reached Israeli territory.

The Israeli Armed Forces also claimed to have intercepted 25 of the approximately 30 cruise missiles and almost all of the ballistic missiles, “more than 120”, that Iran launched against Israel, in attacks that seriously injured a child in Israel and eight other people with minor injuries.

For its part, the Government of Iran described the attack on Israel as a “success” and, although it announced that it has no intention of continuing with the offensive, it warned that it will act again if necessary “to protect its interests”.
