After 16 years together and 4 daughters, Tyrek Burton and Kiara Holloway decided to seal their love with a spectacular wedding accompanied by their family and friends. The celebration turned into tragedy when the groom was shot hours after the ceremony.

The events, which are now the subject of investigation by the authorities, occurred on Saturday October 12, 2024 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
According to WRAL News, Tyrek, 37, died last Saturday night after police found him in the parking lot of the Barber Park Events Center. The man was apparently shot at least 15 times.
Relatives of the couple do not understand how something so horrible could tarnish a moment that should frame the love story between Tyrek and Kiara.

Until the beginning of the week, authorities had not published information about possible suspects or hypotheses about the case. This marks the 32nd case of homicides in the city so far this year.

Burton and Holloway had known each other since childhood, however, life’s twists led them to meet again. Although they only had 2 biological daughters together, Tyrek adopted his partner’s first-born daughters as if they were his own.
“He became a father figure in the lives of my two oldest nieces because their father was not involved. He moved them away from Roxboro, got a stable job and was building a future with my sister“described his sister-in-law.
Those close to him described him as a loving man, who loved his family and who was known for his generosity and infectious smile. “It was shocking, it was terrible“, expressed those close to him.
In addition to asking for justice in the case, the couple’s acquaintances started a GoFundMe collection to raise funds for the man’s funeral expenses and financial support for his widow.
