O Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, accused, this Friday, his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, of being responsible for the death of the leader of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who was on the private jet that crashed near Moscow, on August 23 , victimizing all passengers on board.
“The fact that he killed Prigozhin – at least that’s the information we have – shows his rationality and that he is weak”, said the Ukrainian head of state, during a press conference, when asked about the Russian president.
Even so, the Reuters agency, which cited the person responsible’s statements, noted that he did not provide any evidence to corroborate his statements.
It should be noted that the sudden death of the Russian oligarch who led that group of mercenaries triggered a huge wave of speculation, although the Kremlin assured that it had nothing to do with the crash of the plane, which was carrying 10 passengers, including the arm. -right of Prigozhin and co-founder of the armed militia, Dmitry Utkin.
Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly expressed his condolences, noting, however, that his former ally had made “big mistakes in life”, in a veiled reference to the revolt led by the leader of the Wagner Group.
Launched on February 24, the Russian military offensive in Ukraine has already caused the flight of more than 14.6 million people, according to the most recent data from the United Nations (UN), which classifies this refugee crisis as the worst in the world. Europe since the Second World War (1939-1945).
The entity also confirmed that more than 9,511 civilians have died since the start of the war and 26,717 have been injured, highlighting, however, that these numbers are far below the real ones.
