UA Spanish soldier died on Monday afternoon during NATO military exercises at the Bemowo Piskie training camp in Poland. The information was provided by El Mundo, which cites sources from the Spanish Ministry of Defense.

The accident occurred during a live fire exercise at that training ground, 65 kilometers south of the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.

The 43-year-old corporal was in Poland participating in the ‘Saber Strike’ exercise, as part of the ‘Steadfast Defender 24’ maneuver, in which other allied countries also participate.

The man leaves behind two daughters, was born in Ecuador, and joined the army in 2004.

The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has already conveyed his condolences to the “family and friends” of the deceased, condolences that he extended “to the entire Army family”.

In total, more than 90,000 soldiers from 32 countries participate in this exercise, which ends within a week and was in its second phase. This is the largest exercise carried out by the Allies since the Cold War and with which NATO wants to practice its deterrence capacity.
