Risks of getting into a chimney

Climbing into a chimney is not the best idea, since these narrow structures can cause the person inside to slip or become trapped. Asphyxiation, internal injuries, burns and even inhalation of smoke residue, soot or toxic gases are some of the risks of this practice.

In addition to this, some fireplaces are not designed to support this amount of weight, which is why they can collapse. Without proper preparation or equipment, entering a fireplace is neither safe nor advisable.
